Fall Party

Saturday evening our church had a fall party at one of our favorite city parks. There was candy and s'mores but what our boys really wanted to do was play in the sandbox which was covered in crunchy fallen leaves.

Making Strides

Lucas loaded up the boys bright and early on Saturday and drove up to Liberty Memorial for the 'Making Strides' 5k.  I had to attend a mandatory class and couldn't join them.  They boys enjoyed the people-watching and the snack-eating and the wagon-riding but the most important part of the day was supporting a cause that touches so many families including ours.   Luke was walking for his dear aunt who is courageously fighting through it right now.

Memory Lane

I'm much more comfortable than I was five years ago today...

Weekend

We spent Sunday up in Leavenworth visiting Gran and Grandpa. The boys helped me decorate a carrot cake we made for Lynn's birthday. Levi filled in the icing in the carrot and Milo did the abstact work there at the side.

Milo showed Mia how to work the Jack-in-the-box.

He really wanted to hold her but she was not having any of it.

That's better!

Several of us had colds and raspy voices.  I'll be honest, it wasn't our finest rendition of 'Happy Birthday'...

Levi helped wrap and decorate Grandpa's present.

The boys were very happy to get to hang out with Flurry.

Camping

Friday night was a big deal around here. The boys got to go on their first camping trip with their Daddy. Here they are after their return on Saturday morning. Milo is showing me their permit. The first of many, I'm sure.

Look at that campfire.  Also, impressive: the marshmellow roasting stick that was fashioned from a broken umbrella in our trunk.

Yep, they came home smelling smokey.  That's how you know you are doing it right.

The temps got down in the low 40s but all my guys are hot blooded and Luke assured me they stayed plenty warm.

It made me so happy to hear about the great time they had. Taking his kids camping is something Lucas has been wanting to do since we found out we'd be parents.  There will be much more of this in our future.

Park

Monday, while Levi was in preschool, Milo and I went to a MOPS playdate at a new-to-us park.   Levi was very curious about it so we took him there on Tuesday.

It has a gigantic sandy area for digging.

There was also a merry-go-round.  These actually aren't very common anymore.  The boys loved it, of course and did lots of spinning.

WHEEE.

I climbed on for a ride and nearly made myself sick.

I did get the shot I was going for, though.

Can you tell I got a new camera?

The park had a little 'wild' area with a path perfect for a 2 and 4 year old.

They brought their rake and shovel because, well, just because.

We also brought some of our rolling fleet.

Faster, faster, faster!

He loves that little scooter.

Then this happened!  Ack!  He actually only lasted two seconds before the skateboard got away from him.  He looked at it scornfully then went back to the scooter.

Not a baby anymore!

Sleep Over

Ruby and Ben spent the night last Friday and we let them all crash together in one room.  They had so much fun!

Snips and Snails and Puppy-Dogs' Tails

We got to hang out with cousin Ben on Tuesday. The boys had such a fun time together. Ben brought his nerf gun to share.  Levi had the idea to set up plastic cups as target practice.

Ready.  Aim.  Fire!

Then they used the cups as pins to bowl down with a ball.  Later on, they stacked them up and busted through the cup wall while riding the coaster cars.  I was pretty impressed with the evolution of their ideas.

As Ben had travelled all the way from midtown to see us, we wanted to treat him to the sights and sounds of Overland Park.  "Farm Park" here we come.

Why are baby goats so adorable??

Baby goats do love their milk bottles.

I took a million pictures while they were feeding the goats, because, come ON...look at this cuteness.

You can hear the giggles, can't you?

If while at the Farm Park you find yourself needing to rest your legs, no worries!  They have helpfully placed these rustic rockers every 6'-0".

They really wanted to fish but can you imagine me alone managing these three with worms, water, and hooks on sticks?

They had a really long and in-depth conversation about this display on minerals and fossils.

Even though we had many educational experiences that morning, if asked, the boys would probably list these as their favorite moments:
1. When they saw the goat pee.
2. When they saw the pig pee.
3. When they saw the goat poo.
4. When they found the geese poo on the sidewalk.
5. When the cow stepped in it's own poo.
